GBBGC Announces The Youth of the Year

Kevin Marino is a true example of an extraordinary young man. At age 18 he has just been selected to compete against other Boys & Girls Club members for the New York Youth of the Year title and a $1,000 scholarship from the Reader's Digest Foundation. Being named Youth of the Year is the highest honor a Boys & Girls Club member can receive. The title recognizes outstanding contributions to a member's family, school, community and Boys & Girls Club, as well as personal challenges and obstacles overcome. Kevin is a senior at Locust Valley High School and currently is the President of the Diverse Unity Keystone Club and has organized many events including the Hispanic Heritage Dinner, Thanksgiving Food Drive and Worldwide Day for Play. When Kevin was asked what the Boys & Girls Club means to him he responded "because of the Club I have learned many leadership skills that have helped me as I applied to college and will definitely help me in the future. The Club is my second home and a place I am very grateful for." Kevin will be going to Albany next month to compete at the Regional Level for Youth of the Year. We are all very proud of Kevin and his accomplishments, we wish him luck in Albany and in the future.
Teen and Adult Wiffle Ball Tournament

The first ever Teen and Adult Wiffle Ball Tournament was organized by two of our high school Club members, Mike Fraschilla and Scott Patterson. The tournament raised over $1,500 to support the Club's Triple Play Camp. The Camp is designed to promote health and wellness for kids ages 11 to 14. A special thank you to the Fraschilla and Patterson families, North Shore Financial Group, Western Beef, Locust Valley Cleaners and all the participants who helped make this event such a success!

Oyster Bay Allstate Agent Donates $1,000
Allstate agent Robert Reimels was recently named an Agent Hero by Allstate Insurance Company's New York Region for awarding a $1,000 grant to GBBGC. The donation will be used to support the NetSmartz children's internet safety program. "As an Allstate agent, I believe it is my responsibility to demonstrate the Good Hands Promise in the community every single day," said Reimels. "It is an honor to be able to donate this grant to Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club and hopefully touch the lives of the youth who are involved."
